Red Satin Christmas in October

Who ever said you can’t feel Christmassy in October? Sure you can! Just get yourself a candy cane and a copy of Red Satin Christmas, and you’re all set. For those who aren’t yet familiar with my Red Satin trilogy, it’s a love story between Regan, a butch Cree lesbian, and her long-time friend Maisie, [...]

Constructing my gender

Biologically I’m female – unmistakably so. Breasts, hips, monthly bleeding… I’ve carried a child and given birth. And yet I’ve never felt entirely comfortable self-identifying as female. There have been odd occasions when I’ve bound my breasts, painted on facial hair and pretended to be a bloke – for plays and fancy dress parties mostly. [...]

Coming out…as straight

This is a recap of a conversation between myself and an acquaintance. It was a sincere and honest chat. Him: David, I heard you’re gay. Me: That’s half right. by Jean Roberta Does anyone here remember the song “Mixed Media” in the 1960s musical Hair? It is about interracial romance (specifically “white boys” with “black girls” and “white girls” with “black boys”). It was daring for its time, but by now the dust seems to have settled. I hope that recent conflict about another [...]

Defining Bisexual

First,  I am bisexual. I’ve had attraction to both genders since puberty or just before it. At nineteen I had the epiphany that I was bi. Since I was born in 1954 things were a bit, as I know now, archaic. There was the old joke that you can drive a truck for thirty years [...]

We’ve been talking amongst the lyd authors about orientation  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/loveyoudivine if you want to have a go and see where you fit. The trouble for me is, where I fit today is not at all where I would have fitted a year ago, and who knows where I might be in another year? To what [...]
